Dr Jens Hansen has been the chair of the community house for twelve years and has seen the house expand from a very successful venture operating from out of a run-down venue in Royal Road to become an even more successful venture at the current location in Don Buck Road.Since moving to larger premises, he has seen the house expand programmes and services which means it is now used people for more hours per week than ever before.However, Jens is increasingly urging the committee to seek alternative funding sources as Council support, although gratefully received, is now insufficient to maintain the expanded level of services offered.

Jens has a background in community development and research and continues to believe that lifelong learning and community development can ensure healthy communities.He continues to be supportive of a close liaison between Council and the Community House because by working closely together, premises for community services can be maintained to a satisfactory standard and people are then better able to enjoy resources such as the Massey Community House.His dialogue with Council continues to be ongoing.
